In this study finely powdered waste glasses fly ash and their combination are used as a partial replacement of cement in concrete and compared it with conventional concrete.
Glass powder as partial replacement of cement in concrete.
The concrete mixes using brick or glass as 10 replacement of cement exhibited enhancement in compressive strength about 6 4 7 and 2 0 and 7 2 5 6 and 2 at age 7 28 and 90 days.
In this project our main objective is to study the influence of partial replacement of cement with marble powder and to compare it with the compressive and tensile strength of ordinary m20 concrete.
The glass powder replacement in cement was varied 0 25.
Use of milled ground waste glass in concrete as partial replacement of cement could be an important step toward development of sustainable.
Glass is principally composed of silica.
This move can serve 2 purposes.
To check and compare the performance standard concrete and glass powder concrete.
Efforts have been made in the concrete industry to use waste glass and fly ash as partial replacement of cement.
Firstly stone chips and sand were dry mixed for a minute.
Experiment were conducted on concrete prepared by partial replacement of cement by waste glass powder of particle size 75µm the the waste glass powder was replaced by 10 20 30 and 40 of the binder and the mix design was prepared.
Results revealed that the concrete compressive strength was not decreased by the cement substitution after 28 days because of the pozzolanic reaction between glass powders and cement hydration.
Appropriate quantity of glass powder was blended with cement in a separate container and then incorporated into the aggregate matrix mixed earlier.
Mix proportion of concrete is shown in table 6.
To judge the utility of glass powder as a partial replacement of cement in concrete.
Thus 15 percent gp content is recommended as optimum.
